Our newest K-9 Akela, and his handler Deputy Tanner Hall began working together in the fall of 2023. Akela is a 3 year old German Shepard and is also a dual purpose K-9, performing both narcotics detection and patrol functions.

The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Program is made up of a two canines. 

K-9 Bolt, and his handler Cpt. Austin Hann, Bolt is a 9 year old German Shepherd who works as a dual purpose K-9, performing both narcotics detection and patrol functions. With the legalization of marijuana K-9 Bolt got a new position working solely with our area schools to continue to be proactive and have a positive impact. Bolt will continue to work within Nodaway County schools for the 2023-2024 school year and will retire in the Spring of 2024.
