The Nodaway County Jail is a 42 Bed Facility.  The Jail has 1 Cell Block, as well as an Observation Holding cell and an Isolated Annex.

​The Jail is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Visitation schedule and rules

  1. Each inmate is allowed one visit per weekend. 

  2. Visits are approximately 20 minutes long. 

  3. Inmates are allowed up to two visitors, but the visitors must split the 20 minutes.

  4. Visitors must be over the age of 18.

  5. Visitors cannot be on Probation and Parole. 

  6. Visits can be denied if the visitor is late.

  7. Visits can be ended at any time if the jail staff deems it necessary.

  8. Visits must be made at least 24 hours in advance. All individuals visiting must have their name on the schedule.  Anyone not on the schedule will be denied.

  9. No personal items, such as cell phones, photographs, books, etc., are allowed in the visitation booth.  Please leave all personal belongings in vehicle.

  • We go through Stellar Services for our Commissary. You can go to StellarServices.com for the link or go to jailatm.com and set up an account. You are able to put money on their commissary that the inmate can use to buy a variety of items or they can put money on phone time. You may also add money through our kiosk in the lobby of the jail. The kiosk charges $3 for cash or 10% for card per transaction.

  • If you are an approved contact you can set up an account for video chats and emails through Stellar Services and apply to be a contact. Jail staff must approve the application before the messages will go through. All other rules for eligibility apply for in person visits and video chats.

  • Inmates have phone access in their housing unit outside of lockdown times unless they are being held on a 24 hour hold investigation, 12-hour detox, on disciplinary lockdown or have lost phone privileges.

  •  Inmates are allowed prescription medication in the original container or if they take something over the counter that the jail does not provide, someone can bring it in unopened.

  • Yes, as long as it has a soft cover. The jail does have Christian Bibles that are available upon request.

  • Unfortunately, jail staff are not permitted to relay messages to inmates. We encourage you to take advantage of our email system to get a message to your inmate. 

  • Jail staff are not permitted to give out information relating to times of court dates or appointments. We encourage you to use Casenet, call the courthouse or the inmates attorney for any court related questions. Medical appointments made by family will not be accepted. All appointments for medical needs will need to be made through the jail staff. 

  • Must be initiated by the inmate. The inmate must sign a property release form stating what property they would like to be released and who it should be released to. Please bring your photo ID when you come to pick up property. If the inmate has left our facility but still has personal property here you have 10 days to arrange pick up.

  • Inmates can receive 4.25” x 6” post cards. We do not accept letters in envelopes through the mail for inmates unless approved otherwise or legal mail. Inmates are allowed to have photos and you may send those in an envelope by itself or drop them off at the jail.

  •  You can use the kiosk in the lobby and it will walk you through the process of bonding someone out. Cash or card are accepted on the kiosk. If you have a question the on-duty jailer would be happy to help you.
